Opera Mini Next contains new features and improvements that are still under development. The purpose is to get early feedback from you so that we can improve features and fix bugs before finale release. Opera Mini Next can be installed alongside the regular release.

FEATURES

Smart Page

The most visible new feature is perhaps the redesign of the start screen and the addition of Smart Page. This page gives you an overview of your favorite sites, latest updates from social networks (Twitter and Facebook), news gathered from your favorite sites (via their RSS feeds) and suggested links. Note that you can clear the Smart Page by selecting "Clear history" from the privacy settings.

Support for more than 9 speed dials

One common complaint has been the restrictions on the number of speed dials. We have now solved this and you can add as many as you like, or in practice as many as your device can handle. Synching your speed dials between desktop and Opera Mini should be a much nicer experience now. Note that there is a couple of known issue when synching with Opera Link. Speed dials may move around unexpectedly and the order can be inconsistent.

We have also added a convenient way to add new speed dials: just press the star found in the address bar (touch devices only).

Improved support for RTL

Right-to-left text in UI elements should now be correctly drawn. We would like to fix as many of the these bugs as possible, so if you find issues, please report them.

Tab improvements

Tabs can now be closed with one click on touch devices. And when you close a tab, Opera Mini will switch to the last used tab.

No more "www." in address bar

Most sites today can be used without the WWW prefix. So we have removed it as well. The auto completion still supports it of course.

Last year the desktop team here at Opera introduced Opera Next for those of you that would like to help testing new features. Today we are introducing a similar concept for Opera Mini: Opera Mini Next.

Session restore

When you exit Opera Mini with open tabs, the same tabs will be opened automatically the next time you start Opera Mini.

Known Issues

Some rendering and performance issues on Smart Page.
RTL is not fully supported in input fields.
Using FontZoomer to render your fonts can crash under certain circumstances. This is also an issue with the Nokia browser when visiting Hindi sites. We are communicating with them and hopefully it will be fixed on their end.

The Nokia Weather widget displays the current weather and forecast in your current location or any other selected city in the world. This package contains two versions of the widget – Weather now and Weather forecast. Weather now displays only the current weather information, Weather forecast displays also a two day forecast. 

FEATURES

• Search and select a fixed location. By default the widget displays the weather information of your current location.

• Information is updated automatically every 3 hours for fixed locations and every hour otherwise. 

• Tap the widget to open the Weather application (part of Nokia Maps Suite 2.0) that shows detailed forecast. If Maps 3.09 or newer is installed, weather application will open forecast of the same location as is shown in widget. If you have not installed Nokia Maps Suite 2.0, the Weather application will always open to the detailed forecast for your current location. 

Known Issues/Additional information 

Weather widget may stop updating after some time in Symbian Belle devices. If new widget is added to homescreen after this, it will only show a spinning circle. Rebooting device is needed to make weather widget work again. 

Temperature is always shown in Celsius. It will be possible to set Fahrenheit when the next release of the Weather application in the Nokia Maps Suite is made.
